Vodafone will rely on a low cost pay-TV service to break into the TV market, with a launch offer charging a monthly fee of a maximum €12.
Following its agreement with Canal Plus, Vodafone will be launching its pay-TV service in March – available in Full HD on customers’ TVs, smartphones and tablets through a new multimedia device dubbed Vodafone Box. Spain: Vodafone Box pay-TV
Vodafone will be also launching a TV offer for fibre broadband subscribers through its 100 Mbps FTTH network, already available in 100,000 households.
The company had dropped its TV offer at the end of 2012 to avoid having to pay some €40 million per year in the so-called RTVE tax. Now the company will be acting as a “reseller” of TV services to avoid having to pay the tax.
