Communiqué officiel – 16 juin 2010 – Telstra
Telstra’s highly anticipated T-Box goes on sale tomorrow (Jeudi 17 juin) combining BigPond® TV, movie downloads, HD free-to-air channels, a personal video recorder and YouTube videos.
T-Box’s in-store arrival also has been marked by the signing of one of Hollywood’s most celebrated studios, Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), to supply titles from its extensive and historic library to the market-leading BigPond Movies downloads service. MGM joins Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, Village Roadshow, Icon, Umbrella and Hopscotch.
Telstra Chief Marketing Officer, Ms Kate McKenzie, said, “Consumers want a great array of content from on-demand movies and video to enhanced free-to-air TV services and they want it direct to their lounge room. T-Box will deliver this with the added benefit of BigPond content not affecting download usage, which is part of the great value that Australia’s largest ISP provides« .
The Telstra T-Box brings BigPond® TV, HD free-to-air TV, YouTube videos and personal video recorder (PVR) functions to a single, stylish set top box. BigPond TV includes a movie download service, five sports channels plus dedicated news and music channels. T-Box combined with BigPond broadband means Telstra becomes a one-stop-shop for customers’ telecommunications and entertainment needs.
“The T-Box brings to our customers the benefit of our years of experience in delivering online movie downloads and IPTV channels and the value and reliability of Telstra’s broadband services,” Ms McKenzie said.
“T-Box will also satisfy the ongoing and increasing demand for video-on-demand by customers who see the benefit of entertainment delivered straight to their PC’s and TV’s.
“BigPond TV’s movie download service will commence with a library of around 1400 titles, while the seven channels of news, sport and entertainment will offer a catalogue of a video-on-demand with thousands of hours of available viewing.
“Sports fans will love the dedicated NRL, AFL, V8 Supercars and live thoroughbred horse racing through our partnership with TVN, while news junkies can check BigPond News 24/7. Music fans will also love our music channel, BPM, which serves up music and entertainment around the clock,” Ms McKenzie said.
T-Box also enhances free-to-air Digital TV with its PVR feature, allowing customers to record; pause and rewind live TV or watch one channel while recording another. It has on-board hard disk storage for up to 100 hours of standard definition TV and an easy-to-read seven day TV guide, making recording and viewing programs simple.
T-Box will be priced at $299 outright, or eligible customers can add it to one of Telstra’s bundles and pay it off in instalments over 24 months. Telstra will dramatically increase the broadband data allowance available as part of its bundles from tomorrow.
T-Box can be purchased from Telstra Stores from 17th June, online at http://www.telstra.com.au/tbox and by calling 1300 136 841
