IP Vision Showcases Sky Player on FetchTV Platform
IP Vision recently showcased Sky Player, Sky’s online TV service, on its FetchTV SmartBox at this year’s IPTV World Forum in London. The deal to bring Sky Player to the FetchTV platform was announced in October of last year.
Sky is in its final stages of beta testing the Sky Player service on FetchTV’s SmartBoxes, which will be released to customers within the next two months. The launch of Sky Player on the FetchTV platform will be the first time that Sky’s pay TV content has been made available via a Freeview internet connected set-top box.
As with access to Sky Player via PC, Mac and XBox 360, existing Sky TV customers will be able to access Sky Player content on a bonus basis based on their core Sky DTH and product subscriptions, whilst non-Sky customers will be able to sign up to a choice of TV packages via monthly subscription, with a minimum contract of just one month, as well as renting single episodes with no long-term commitment.
Eddie Abrams CEO IP Vision said: “We’re excited to be in a position to finally show people the look and feel of Sky Player when accessed through the FetchTV platform. We have worked hard to implement the clean and contemporary Sky Player design that Sky delivered to us, ensuring that while accessing its content the proposition is presented to the user in an intuitive and simple to navigate environment.”
Griff Parry, Director of On Demand, BSkyB said: “Sky is committed to giving customers more control and flexibility in how they access the content they love. The launch on Fetch TV is the latest step in Sky Player’s story of using internet connected devices to extend our distribution and give consumers more choice. As the market continues to innovate for consumers, we’ll continue to extend Sky Player to exciting new platforms and devices.”
FetchTV boxes are currently available at John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse and Currys online. RRP is £219.
